Those of you who know me.. know that cooking is the last thing that I would choose to do. Those of you who don't know me, well... I don't necessarily have the best track record when it comes to cooking/baking anything. There was a time that I may have baked brownies hoping to impress a certain someone and they ended up with raw brownies (the struggle is real). So cooking can be overwhelming and just too much of a challenge to take on by myself. As just one of the benefits to Cafe Firenze's VIP Wine Club you get to experience the VIP Cooking Class with Chef Fabio Viviani. Intrigued? I was too.
After receiving complimentary champagne (correction- complimentary bottomless champagne) we took our seats and waited for the class to begin. Chef Fabio welcomed all of us and listed the dishes we would learn to make.. he couldn't have started with something easier? I grabbed my notebook and pen and I was ready to learn. Then Chef Fabio said he didn't want anyone to take notes and write down the recipe because we would learn best by watching, smelling and tasting he then took a sip of wine and the cooking class began.
Chef Fabio was so extremely entertaining which made cooking about experimenting and having fun and enjoying flavors. As we learned the ingredients and how to actually cook the dish we also learned how to substitute or how to "fix" dishes by adding an egg or a little bit of water depending on the consistency. After we learned how to cook each dish we were served full dishes from the kitchen which were AMAAAAAZING!
The Cooking Class alone was more than worth the VIP Wine Club at Cafe Firenze but you also get a ton of other benefits such as an invitation to other special events and a Pick up Party that I'll be attending in February (watch out for it on social media).
One specific thing that Chef Fabio had said that really stuck in my head was "Seek progress not perfection." That phrase made me realize that yes learning how to cook will still be a challenge but I'll never learn if I don't try. With that being said.. when I want the perfect gnocchi then its Table for 1 at Cafe Firenze!
